About Kate
I was born in ‘68
For a poet that is great
As it rhymes with mate and late and date
And state and fate and hate and bait
And rate and plate and ate and gate
Almost too many words to relate
Every day I thank heaven

Ex-Random House Commissioning Editor, Kate Tym, has a whole host of published children's books under her belt, she is also a regular on the performance poetry circuit, writes bespoke wedding poetry and provides regular poetry days/author visits at both primary and secondary schools.
In 2011 Kate ran an Arts in Healthcare project "How Are You Feeling?" working with stroke survivors at various stroke clubs around the region. This was supported by the University of Brighton, and funded by CUPP (the Community and University Partnership Project). The Stroke Association were so impressed they decided to run their own poetry competition on the back of it and Kate is the be the short-listing judge, with Andrew Motion, former Poet Laureate deciding the winning entry. Kate will also be addressing the Stroke Association Annual Assembly at the Birmingham NEC in July, where she will talk about the project. Kate is hoping to develop a Writer in Residence position within the E.Sussex NHS Trust.
Kate has just been announced as the winner of the Rye Creative Centre's Audio Stories competition. Her story has now been recorded and will be available to download in June. Watch out for the launch on the Network SE rail line running between Eastbourne and Ahsford on 6th June. Kate has recently collaborated with local filmaker Janey of Toaster Productions to make a film for the International Zebra Poetry Film Awards... so finger's crossed it's a winner!
In September Kate will be starting an MA in Creative Writing at Chichester University.
Kate is a regular on the Women's Institute speaker circuit for East Sussex, and also performs for U3A groups, the National Women's Register, The National Trust Association groups and The National Health Service Retirement Fellowship.
Kate had three poems showcased at the Edinburgh Festival in the Bodygossip show. The performance raised money for BEAT, the leading UK charity for people with eating disorders and their families.
Kate has regularly featured as "story of the week" on the Bodygossip website.
Kate has been showcased as "poet of the month" on the Apples and Snakes website.
